Chris FitzSimmons is a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine working in Sheffield and
living in the Derbyshire Peak District.
He qualified in 1993 and has over 32 years experience of working in multiple specialities
and 22 years experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
He was the Lead Clinician for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Emergency Department from 2004-2008
and the ED and Trust Lead Clinician for Major Trauma from 2011-2018.
He was also the Clinical Lead for the South Yorkshire Major Trauma Network 2012-16.
Compared to adult practice, claims are less fequent in Paediatric Emergency Medicine but there
also far fewer qualified Paediatric Emergency Department experts available
to provide quality Reports.
Chris has been preparing clinical negligence reports for the past 10 years and has the expertise to comment upon all aspects of management in the Paediatric Emergency Department.
Sepsis is the condition that features most commonly among approaches and the care of the febrile
child in general, particularly in the younger age range 0-5 years. Work for regional HM Coroners has recently focused heavily on deaths from Gp A Streptococcal Disease
